What inspired me most was the actual setting of Heikki‘s image, the atmosphere and the interlacing of vertical lines of two prominent trees contrasted with the horizontal flow of what I imagine is a river in the background. I was looking for a similar rhythm in the Carpathian forests near my hometown.

The light in Heikki’s picture is very soft and the struc-tures feel dense. The fog in the forest was a perfect translator of that softness and impenetrability.

When I encountered two trees of a similar size standing side by side, with another miraculously balanced above them, seemingly floating horizontally in the air, I knew I had found a perfect scene for our project.

My work is rooted in self-portraiture in nature, where the body seeks harmony with the environment. The scene I saw invited me to mirror the floating tree – to become a balanced, straight line suspended in space, flowing like the river in Heikki‘s photograph.
